Pride Nutrition is not one of the most well known supplement companies out there, they have a website that looks like it was designed in 1998, and they are not exactly setting social media on fire.

But these are all just minor complaints, what matters is the supplement itself. E-Block is their estrogen blocking supplement.

It promises to help maximise the testosterone to estrogen ratio, support strength and power, and reduce body fat while increasing libido.

These promises are fairly standard for estrogen blockers, and the good ones can deliver on them. We all know that managing estrogen can be difficult.

Pride Nutrition also claim that the use of E Block can eliminate acne that is caused by hormonal imbalances. It also promises to improve mood and self confidence.

Unlike some estrogen blockers, E Block is not crammed with hundreds of ingredients, it contains just three: Calcium, Diindolylmethane, and Chrysin.

In this review we will take a look at each individual ingredient before reviewing the supplement as a whole.

Ingredient Review

Calcium (80mg)

While this is written down as Calcium, it is actually Calcium-D-Glucarate which is used to remove toxins, there have been studies in rats that show that Calcium-D-Glucarate can block estrogen receptors therefore lowering estrogen, but it may also reduce testosterone [1].

There is not yet enough evidence to say whether Calcium-D-Glucarate is an effective estrogen blocker, but it is potentially a good ingredient.

Diindolylmethane (250mg) DIM

This ingredient is commonly found in broccoli and is well known as an aromatase inhibitor.

Aromatase Inhibitor

Aromatase in an enzyme that converts excess testosterone into estrogen, and can lead to huge increases in estrogen which lead to weight gain, and a vicious cycle.

Increased Testosterone

Aromatase inhibitors block this enzyme and can therefore redress the balance, and lead to increased testosterone. The dosage is high, with 100mg being sufficient to produce a change [2].

Chrysin (100mg)

In lab settings, Chrysin has been shown to be an excellent aromatase inhibitor [3], sadly due to having a really bad absorption rate, it is pretty ineffective in practice.

Unless there is a way to improve the absorption, this ingredient is quite useless in reality. Which is a shame, as in vitro it looks like a really effective ingredient.

Final Thoughts

E Block is a estrogen blocking supplement with three main ingredients, two of those ingredients are pretty much unproven and ineffective. The third ingredient (Diindolylmethane) is very effective, therefore E Block does exactly what it says it does, it blocks estrogen.

Will it clear up your acne? Not sure, but taken with a healthy diet and regular exercise you should see improvements in your body fat percentage, your mood, your muscle mass, and your sleep quality.

There are better estrogen blockers out there, with more effective ingredients – but if you are concerned about high estrogen levels and you bought this supplement, you’d be pretty happy with the results.

Which is a pretty fair deal! The addition of Chrysin is a little annoying though, as the producers should be aware of its lack of absorption, and therefore ineffectiveness. Adding useless ingredients is a practice that the supplement industry is slowly leaving behind, but it’s still quite common, and very irritating.
